Sandwiched between its more affluent neighbours Chiswick and Ealing, Acton often goes overlooked but can be the perfect base for exploring London. The area is mainly residential so there are not many attractions as such but getting to the heart of the city is easy enough to spend the day sightseeing. It's not, however, completely lacking in something to offer the average out-of-towner, with a high street that is home to dozens of independent cafe's and antique stores. And if you are passing through, Gunnersbury Park is well worth a visit with beautiful parkland and a museum depicting the history of west London through the ages.
