The Playhouse Theatre is located in a vibrant area of London known for its stunning river views and stunning architecture. Situated very close to Embankment, which is also the nearest tube station, means there are excellent sights of the Thames and London’s skyline is less than a minutes’ walk away. The theatre is housed in a Victorian-style building and is one of the oldest theatres in the capital. The Playhouse opened in 1882 and since then it has hosted some truly spectacular shows such as Footloose, Dreamboats and Petticoats and The Rocky Horror Show. It has 786 seats over three levels and packs audiences in with an ever-changing line-up of musicals and transfers of off-West End hits. It’s also no stranger to celebrity-filled productions with the likes of Lindsey Lohan, Matthew Perry and James McAvoy all having graced its stage. Whilst at the theatre you will find yourself well placed for pre or post-show food and drink with many bars and restaurants nearby. The tourist hotspots of Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square are also within easy walking distance.
