Established in 1999, the Blue Elephant Theatre is a quirky venue with a bustling programme. Tucked away on a housing estate in Camberwell its tiny 50-seater auditorium hosts a thriving line-up that provides a much-needed home for south London theatre, dance and performance. The Blue Elephant's main aim is to nurture new and emerging artists across the performing arts which it does successfully. In addition to this, it also hosts short runs of new plays, scratch nights, as well as community projects including a youth theatre group. It really is a great asset to the local community and the surrounding areas. Due to its off-the-beaten-track location, you won’t find many of the city’s top attractions nearby or an underground station but with excellent bus routes and services, these can be reached in no time. You’ll find the nearest tube station, Oval, a 15-minute walk away.
